PRESIDENT, HAITI, AND THE TRUTH

I last visited Haiti in a cruise in April, 2013. As was noted with the caption on a picture at my son's web site, Haiti was boring. Why? The cruise line had a private beach there, but refused to permit any of the passengers to go beyond it to explore the island. Further, when they allowed a few Haitians to come close our our ship, the crew greeted them with face masks and gloves. They made clear their policy that Haiti was to be considered a dangerous place - which is how the President and how the Torah Code characteristizes the island. There is a dispute as to whether President Trump referred to it as a sh*thole or as a sh*house. The first term is defined by Oxford Dictionaries as "An extremely dirty, shabby, or otherwise unpleasant place." Given the destructon wrought by earthquakes, hurricanes, extreme poverty and disease, it certainly fits Oxford's definition of the first term. Such a description isn't racism, it's reality that no more defines Haitian character than Aushiwitz defined Jewish character when we were caught in that Sh*thole.

The axis term for the matrix is TO INSULT HAITI (with Haiti spelled with a tav rather than a tet). This is the only ELS of the phrase. At the same absolute skip is BLACK. An ELS of TRUMP shares a letter resh with THE MAN THAT SHALL BE UNCLEAN AND SHALL NOT PURIFY HIMSELF SHALL BE CUT OFF. Trump was indicating that he wanted to cut off Haitians from entry (I presume unless they had great skills to offer). TRUMP touches THE FOREIGNER in the open text. The word POVERTY is parallel to the axis term, but it's not at a special case skip (+/- 1 or the absolute skip of the axis term). In the open text and sharing a letter yud with the axis term is THE MEN OF THAT PLACE SHOULD KILL ME. Perhaps this reflects the fear of many whites that blacks have a high crime rate. Finally, and perhaps most important, the 6-letter word for TOILET/WATER CLOSET (sh*thouse) is on the matrix, which may serve to clarify exactly what term the President used. BLACK (the race) was seen at a special case skip against odds of about 14.48 to 1.

STATISTICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE MATRIX. As per my usual protocol, no statistical significance was assigned to the axis term, here the only ELS of TO INSULT HAITI in wrapped or unwrapped Torah. The most significant a priori term was TOILET/WATER CLOSET. It was found against odds of about 30 to 1. FOREIGNER was found in the open text against odds of about 27 to 1. BLACK (the race) was seen at a special case skip against odds of about 14.48 to 1. TRUMP was located at an ELS against odds of about 7.3 to 1. PRESIDENT was in the open text. It had about a 22.5% chance to be found this way. I looked for PLACE because the President was likely talking about the place more than the people. This term was found in the open text against odds of about 2.6 to 1. POVERTY was found but was not statistically significant. Overall the matrix was found against odds of just over a million to 1.

ABOUT HAITIANS VS. HAITI. I checked on the crime rate in Haiti. It is, as expected, horrible. There are also problem with crime in Little Haiti in Miami. However, I feel that I need to say something in favor of Haitians based on my teaching experience in South Florida during years when I could not find active duty. I noticed that black Americans always looked down on and made fun of black Haitians. But during the summer of 2000 I taught a physical science class at Atlantic High School in Delray Beach. The class was about 90% Haitian and 10% recent arrivals from Cuba. To my very great surprise, in 30 years of teaching experience, the Haitians and Cubans were either the smartest group of students that I ever saw, or second best after a largely Jewish class of 9th graders at Highland Oaks Junior High in Miami Beach. In fact, I found the Haitians not only to be very smart, scoring more than 90% right even on organic chemistry tests, but to also be among the most polite that I have ever encountered. As such I would encourage immigration officials to really get to know those who want to come here rather than just look at their native countries. However it remains my belief that the President is correct when he calls for extreme vetting for those who come from Muslim-majority areas. An exception would be for those who, at risk to their lives, have worked for the U.S. miltary for at least a year in places like Iraq.
