OLYMPUS MONS AND MARS
Updated 4/13/2011
The Internet is a place where almost any idea has a site to back it. This is certainly true with respect to claims that Mars once held a civilization. A quick search will reveal many ideas about giants called the Nephilim, Emin, and Anakim that are mentioned in the Bible. A Google survey revealed 88,700 matches for Nephilim and aliens, 31,300,000 for aliens and Emim, and another 250,000 matches for Anakim and aliens. Quite a few of these sites include reference to Mars, and in particular the face-like object seen there at Cydonia. Note: I do not endorse any of them.
When Roy Reinhold published my Ark Code book, he also published a book by a (now deceased) good friend of mine (Walter Keith York) entitled Nephilim, The Fallen Ones. Roy has often been on TV on shows about the Bible Code. He has been intimately involved in Bible Codes software development and sales. I was happy that he paid to publish my work, although it was certainly true that we agreed on little in terms of religion other than the apparent significance of maps that I had found encoded in Torah that suggested the final resting place of the Ark of the Covenant. Likewise, Walt and I agreed on little in terms of theology. I am an Orthodox Jew, while Roy and Walt are Christians. I did, however, help to edit Walt’s book because it had a number of grammatical problems, and because he was my friend. I thought Walt’s book would not sell much because it was fiction, but it actually sold better than mine.
At the current time, it is my belief that the Torah Code remains far from a proven certainty. I continue to explore matrices that may suggest the encoding of our fate into the Torah. I also look for evidence that might suggest encoded knowledge of aliens, or alien influence in the writing of the Torah. I do not see any evidence that aliens wrote or influenced the writing of Torah, but there are matrices that suggest God may have encoded information about them (see No alien gods). Those matrices seen, however, are far from conclusive proof.
OLYMPUS MONS is the axis term on the matrix shown above. The only a-priori terms on this matrix were MARS at an ELS and ALIEN in the open text. I could easily have chosen Nephilim, Anakim, and Emin, but did not do so because I had no initial a-priori reason to associate them with Mars. ANAKIM and EMIN are on the matrix in the open text. The open text also speaks of a place too far away, which fits Mars, but so does an infinite number of other places. As for giants, they are discussed on my page about Clark McClelland.
If the Torah Codes are real, what might we expect to find in them with respect to Mars, aliens, and UFO cover-ups? Well, for starters, there seems to be a natural limit of 8 to 9 letters that can be found as an axis term by a-priori means. Yes, longer ELS trains are found by snooping, but that is a very dubious procedure. The axis term on this matrix, OLYMPUS MONS, is 9 letters. I could have used other transliteration spellings (including a samech rather than a sin as the last letter). After finding the axis term, probabilities can be sought only for a-priori key terms found on the matrix, not for a-posteriori material. This is complicated more by the issue of terms and spellings sought, but not found. Beyond that, even when an interesting probability is arrived at, we still don't get a good idea of what percent of initial matrix topic ideas never panned out at all. So, an interesting matrix is not going to take the place of concrete evidence about UFOs, like a part of an alien ship, or an alien body recovered from a wreck, or data received by a Mars probe.
Will we ever see disclosure about aliens by our Government? This is likely only if the aliens force their hand, or if Government officials can be assured that anything done to cover-up alien-related research cannot lead to indictments based on research funds that were illegally obtained. There may also be reputations at risk. For example, THE DAY AFTER ROSWELL by Lieutenant Colonel Philip Corso (now deceased) makes the claim that his job in 1962 was to provide industry with UFO wreckage that would be back-engineered into various products. A number of patents were supposedly obtained as a result of his activities. Those people who earned them would obviously like to hold onto them and the associated profits.
When Astronaut Buzz Aldrin made his C-SPAN remarks about a monolith on a moon of Mars (Phobos) on July 25, 2009, he was quickly cut off and there was no news follow up permitted. Information about UFOs and possible life on Mars is likely to continue to be tightly controlled. So how do we pursue the truth in such an environment? To do so, for related topics, we must examine - very closely - every detail presented as truth by our Government. Most of us don't have that ability, or the time required to do so. But my son was blessed with the chance to check out some of our Government's assertions about Mars. David's report makes clear that the Government portrayal of ultra-low Martian air pressure is likely wrong. The question is, "Is it wrong because of incompetence, or by design in effort to cover up an alien presence or Mars, past of present?"
David's 410-page report can be found on his site. His abstract is offered below:

THE CASE FOR HIGHER THAN
ADVERTISED MARTIAN AIR PRESSURE
by David A. Roffman,
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
The enigma of dust devils/storms on Mars with a near-vacuum pressure rated at 6.1 mbar at areoid is cause to question accuracy of accepted pressure values. This report includes reviews of NASA-archived historical documents, analysis of technical papers, an in depth audit of Viking pressure and temperature data (see Annexes A to F), and personal interviews of pressure transducer designers. Only four landers attempted to measure pressure – two Vikings, Pathfinder, and Phoenix. Accepted pressures are based on their transducers and radio occultation/spectroscopy by orbiters. Viking transducers were only rated at 18 mbar (Pathfinder and Phoenix could not measure over 12 mbar). Both Vikings often showed consistent pressure spikes daily at the same time. These spikes are highly correlated with pressure predictions based on Gay-Lussac/Amonton’s Law which describes how the pressure of a gas in a sealed container would vary with the Absolute temperature. Annual pressures swings recorded at the Viking sites, with highest pressures in the northern winter, are shown to be likely caused by increased heating by the radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTGs) on the Vikings rather than by sublimation of carbon dioxide at the Martian South Pole. A simple formula, Pressure predicted = (6.51 mbar*255.77 K)/Temperature K measured, was very often consistently correct (< 2% difference) for predicting the pressure measured at any given hour for Viking-1 (6.51 mbar was the minimum pressure measured and 255.77K was the maximum temperature for its sols 1 to 350). This formula assumes a clogged air access tube/dust filter. No landers employed any way to clean or replace dust filters.
Minimum pressures derived by radio occultation experiments performed by the Mariners are not the same on a NASA site as they were listed in 1974. Mountain elevations provided by Mariner 9 vary from MOLA results, casting doubt on pressure results. Pathfinder anemometer calibration efforts failed, probably due to a misunderstanding of Martian air pressure. No anemometer was included on Phoenix. The Phoenix transducer suffered from confusion by designers about dust filter location, and lack of information about nearby heat sources due to International Traffic and Arms Regulations. Further pressure questions arise from unexpectedly high densities encountered during aerobraking operations (particularly over the South Pole). Spectroscopy for pressure did not work over ice there. NASA could not replicate dust devils at 10 mbar without employing wind speeds 11+ times greater than associated with Martian dust devils, yet dust devils and spiral clouds with ~10 km wide eye walls are seen on and over Arsia Mons where pressure was thought to be ~1 mbar. Future mission transducers should be capable of measuring a much wider pressure range and provide for a way to keep pressure transducer filters and air access tubes clear.
