IRON DOME ROCKET DEFENSE SYSTEM FOR BEER SHEVA ISRAEL
An answer to ongoing rocket fire from Gaza (Updated 4/7/2011)
On March 27, 2011 Israel finally began to deploy its Iron Dome missile defense system to protect its citizens from rocket and mortar attacks launched from Gaza. On the matrix below, the axis term is IRON DOME at its minimum ELS in Torah. The most important a priori key word sought and found was BEERSHEVA because this ancient home of Abraham is the first city to be protected by this system. FOR THE SAKE OF ISRAEL shares a letter yud with IRON DOME. The source of the attacks, GAZA, is shown at skip +3. While the foreign press often bemoans the “poor Palestinians” who continue to carry out their terrorist activities, the term NO PITY from ROCKET shares a letter lamed with NO PITY. The full verse at Deuteronomy 13:9 includes “you shall not acceded to him and not hearken to him; your eye shall not take pity on him…”
APRIL 7, 2011 UPDATE: Apparently the Israeli missile defense system today shot down an incoming missing from Gaza today. The story is in FoxNews.Com.
PM says Iron Dome won't provide complete protection
Counter-rocket defense system to be deployed near Beersheba; IAF prepared for possibility it won't work. The second battery will be near Ashkelon (Fox News later reported that the second battery would be deployed in Ashdod). IDF sources said, however, that the batteries were mobile and could be moved to other parts of the South per operational requirements.
Iron Dome is designed to defend against rockets at a range of 4-70 km. Each battery consists of a multi-mission radar manufactured by Israel Aerospace Industries and three launchers, each equipped with 20 interceptors named Tamir.
The IDF stressed that the deployment was part of what it called an “operational test”
Palestinian militants have fired dozens of rockets at Israel over the last week, prompting Israeli air strikes against targeted areas in the Gaza Strip. The renewed hostilities have fed concerns of another large-scale Israeli military operation. In December 2008, Israel invaded Gaza in response to years of rocket and mortar barrages on its southern communities, killing 1,400 Palestinians, including more than 900 civilians, and causing widespread destruction. Thirteen Israelis also died in that war.
Israel says that Hamas, which suffered heavy losses in the fighting, has largely recovered from the fighting and restocked its arsenal with more powerful weapons.
Also on Sunday, the Israel Air Force killed two Gazans and wounded three more who were attempting to launch rockets at Israel. The strike came a day after Gaza groups signaled that they would halt rocket fire at Israel if the IDF stopped carrying out targeted attacks as well.
STATISTICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE MATRIX. At 756 letters, the matrix is larger than what I typically display. As there are 10 occurences of BEERSHEVA in the 304,805 letters of Torah, the chance to have it on this matrix was about 1 in 41. No statistical value is allotted to the axis term, IRON DOME or to the a posteriori words FOR THE SAKE OF and have NO PITY. The overall significance of the matrix with key words BEERSHEVA and ISRAEL in the open text, and with GAZA, and ROCKET having each word with internal letters within 3 letters of each other is rated at p = .0047 (about 1 chance in 211).
