TRAYVON MARTIN HOMICIDE CASE
George Zimmerman was charged with 2nd Degree Murder. Manslaughter was more appropriate. The jury, however, found him not guilty because Martin was on top slamming his head against the concrete when the fatal shot was fired. (Updated 7/14/2013)
The killing of Trayvon Martin on February 26, 2012, is encoded at least twice in Torah, and a warning to his killer, G. Zimmerman, is also found. In the first matrix the axis term TRAYVON MARTIN (at minimum skip in Torah) is crossed by the open text for THEN YOU SHALL KILL HIM as found in Exodus 1:16 which describes an order by Pharaoh to kill male Jewish babies. While I first thought that this was merely a prediction that Martin would be killed, appartently it is to read as what itis, an order to kill Travon Martin.
On the second matrix the axis term is again TRAYVON MARTIN. The year of his death, (5)772/2012, is at the same skip as his name. Crossing his name in the open text is Exodus 21:23 which states, “BUT IF ANY HARM FOLLOW, THEN THOU SHALT GIVE LIFE FOR LIFE" (a death sentence). However, When George Zimmerman followed Trayvon Martin, whether in self defense in accordance with Florida’s Stand Your Ground Law, or whether in a case of manslaughter (or even second degree murder - which he was finally charged with on April 11, 2012), he could not receive a death sentence under Florida Law. Now that he has been found not guilty, the issue becomes not State-issued punlishment, but revenge from the black community. Jesse Jackson addresses that possibility here and news worries about riots are here.
On the third matrix the axis term is G. ZIMMERMAN (for George Zimmerman) at minimum skip in Torah. Incredibly, crossing the first letter of his name, in the open text, is the warning IF THERE WILL JOURNEY WITH YOU A STRANGER IN YOUR LAND, DO HIM NO HARM. I cannot think of a more appropriate verse to cross his name. Whatever happened after Mr. Zimmerman called 911 about Trayvon Martin (outside Mr. Zimmerman's home), Mr. Zimmerman followed him when told by 911 to not do so. He then killed the 17 year old. On May 17, 2012 photos were released showing that Martin had beat the back of Zimmerman's head so that there were bloodly lacerations. Zimmerman also had a broken nose. Evidently he shot Martin at point blank range during a fight while Martin was on top pounding him. Martin had marijuana in his blood at the time of his death. All this helped Zimmerman's defense, but it still doesn't address the question of why Zimmerman went after Martin when asked to refrain from doing so. Even if Zimmerman is not harmed as a result of the not guilty verdict, someone else may be as a result of rioting or revenge. It would have been much better for Zimmerman to follow the Torah's advice - leave the stranger alone and do him no harm.
STATISTICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF FIGURES 1 AND 2.
22 If men fight together and they collide with a pregnant woman and she miscarries, but there will be no fatality, he shall surely be punished as the husband of the woman shall cause to be assessed against him, and he shall pay by order of the judges.
23 But if there shall be a fatality, then you shall award a life for a life;
In checking the Jewish commentary on this (The Stone Edition Chumash), we learn that, "It is clear from verses (21:) 13 and 14 that only premeditated murder incurs the death penalty. In our verse, there is an intent to kill- the men were trying to kill one another - but there was no intent to kill her. Is this considered sufficient to incur the death penalty? The Sages disagreed regarding this point (Sanhedrin 79a). If it is, then a life for a life is meant literally; the assailant receives the death penalty. If it is not sufficient intent, the above phrase refers to damages, i.e., he must pay her monetary value." In Florida the maximum sentence for second degree murder is imprisonment for life, but I doubt that the sentence in this case will be that harsh. For manslaughter the maximum prison time is 10 years.
As shown above, the phrase, LIFE FOR LIFE does not necessarily mandate a death penalty, though his life may be in danger in prison. If we are going to calculate the odds against having this phrase in the 532-letter Figure 2 matrix, we should probably include the 59 death phrases sought for Figure 1. The phrase LIFE FOR LIFE occurs twice in Torah, so we use a frequency of 61 for such phrases. On a 532-letter matrix the odds against one of these phrases showing up are about 9.9 to 1. As for the Hebrew year of the incident (5)772/2012, appearing at a special case skip (here that of the axis term, but +/- 1 would have worked too), odds against it were about 64 to 1. The combined odds, one chance in 635, are downgraded by a factor of 3 to account for ELS rank 3 of the axis term, TRAYVON MARTIN, to leave us with final odds against such a matrix set at about 212 to 1.
STATISTICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF FIGURE 3 AND THE 911 CALL. A transcript of the 911 call made by George Zimmerman is here. Apparently MSNBC edited some of the call to make Zimmerman look more like a racist. There are stories that a producer there was fired for the edit. Indeed, their coverage of the story has, at least to me, sounded extremely racist from the beginning. The most critical part of the 911 call was when the Dispatcher asked Zimmerman if he was following the suspect (Martin). Zimmerman answered, "Yeah." The Dispatcher than told him, "OK, we don't need you to do that." Zimmerman then answered, "OK," but he was already outside where the fatal confrontation would occur. The Dispatcher's words are what calls to mind Leviticus 19:33, "IF THERE WILL JOURNEY WITH YOU A STRANGER IN YOUR LAND, DO HIM NO HARM." The request DO HIM NO HARM occurs twice in Torah, here and in Leviticus 25:17. Odds against such a phrase appearing in the 208 letters with G. ZIMMERMAN at minimum skip are about 733 to 1.
